Certification

Upon commencement of the Professional Herbalist Training Program, the Northwest School for Botanical Studies offers a certificate of completion. Certificates will be awarded based on the following criteria: satisfactory completion of all assignments and tests, a record of at least ninety percent attendance, and full payment of the tuition. The certificate does not declare a student as a "certified clinical herbalist."

Students are strongly encouraged to complete both the Professional Herbalist Training Program and the Clinical Herbalist Training Program before they practice in a private setting. Students are also encouraged to offer their service to the community and to practice without financial compensation, on their friends and family members prior to opening a professional practice.

There are currently no national or state certification policies for herbalists, in the United States. However, the Northwest School for Botanical Studies is registered with the American Herbalist Guild (A.H.G.). All hours completed through our programs count towards the registered herbalist (R.H.) status through the A.H.G.
